Industrial Water Metering: Measure, Diagnose and Improve

Industrial sites may use water in production, cleaning, cooling, utilities and domestic services. Metering gives operations teams a clearer view of these flows when measurement points, product selection and data processes are designed for the site.

Map water through the process

Create a simple flow map from the site inlet to major users, reuse loops, storage and discharge points. Identify which decisions need better information: process efficiency, abnormal demand, allocation or compliance reporting. Coordinate the map with plant engineering and environmental teams.

Match the meter to the operating conditions

Record pipe sizes, expected minimum and maximum flows, pressure, temperature, fluid characteristics, solids, vibration and installation environment. Meter type and sizing affect performance; ask for model-specific performance information and installation limits. Do not assume all industrial lines carry clean, full-pipe water.

Integrate data with operations

Confirm output protocols, historian or building-system interfaces, time synchronisation and data ownership. Agree how readings will be checked and what happens if a device or connection fails. Make the information accessible to operators who can investigate the process.

Close the improvement loop

Use a baseline and compare like-for-like production periods. Investigate changes with process context, then verify whether an action changed consumption. Dropwise lists ultrasonic and electromagnetic options; request a model discussion with site conditions.
