Borewell and Groundwater Metering for Facilities

Facilities that use borewells need dependable source records alongside municipal, tanker and recycled-water inputs. Metering supports a clearer site water balance when equipment and data processes match the actual pumping system.

Build a complete source inventory

List each borewell, municipal connection, tanker receipt, rainwater system and recycled-water source. Record where water enters storage or distribution so volumes can be reconciled without double counting.

Match the meter to pump operation

Document pipe diameter, minimum and maximum pumping flow, pressure, run schedule, water quality and installation geometry. Variable-speed pumps and intermittent operation should be considered when defining the required flow range and data interval.

Validate readings and records

Compare meter totals with pump run time, tank levels or another suitable reference. Investigate gaps, reverse flow or unexpected zero readings. Retain maintenance, calibration and replacement records for each source meter.

Respect applicable requirements

Groundwater abstraction and reporting requirements vary by location and use. Confirm current approvals, prescribed devices and reporting obligations with the relevant authority and a qualified professional.
